questions on finishing wood

We have the mission dining room table and chairs. A white wash finish was applied to it. It has been in storage for about 4 years. Now we notice that areas of the wood have darkened where the white wash finish was not applied. I'm wondering how we can "touch up" those areas without refinishing the entire set. Can we sand those areas and apply a white wash finish to just those areas? Will it blend in? What product should we use? Also, the top has some damage from moving and will need to be sanded down. Do we need to completely sand it down? Can you advise what product to use to seal the finish and give it the shine? Thanks very much. -------------------------------- -------------------------------- Response to Dawn: Dawn, There are many questions I have before I give you a direct answer.
